Wollongong's leading fire sprinker systems & hose reels expert.
Sprinkler systems and hose reels are two common types of fire suppression systems that can be found in buildings and facilities.
A sprinkler system is a fire suppression system that consists of a network of pipes, sprinkler heads, and valves. The system is designed to automatically detect a fire and release water from the sprinkler heads in the affected area to extinguish the fire or control its spread. Sprinkler systems are typically installed in commercial and industrial buildings, as well as larger residential buildings such as high-rise apartments. They are highly effective in controlling fires and minimising damage to property.
Hose reels are another type of fire suppression system that uses a water supply and hose to extinguish fires. Hose reels are typically found in smaller commercial and industrial buildings, such as warehouses, workshops, and small factories. The hose can be manually unrolled and used to direct water onto a fire, helping to control or extinguish it. Hose reels can be effective in controlling small fires before they spread and cause more damage.
At O2 Fire, we offer an extensive variety of sprinklers and hose reels and provide installation and maintenance services to guarantee your property complies with regulations.
Types of fire sprinklers:
- Wet Pipe Sprinklers: This is the most common type of sprinkler system, where water is constantly stored in the pipes and is immediately released when a fire is detected. These sprinklers are typically used in buildings such as offices, schools, and retail stores.
- Dry Pipe Sprinklers: These sprinklers are designed for use in areas where temperatures can drop below freezing, such as in unheated storage areas or parking garages.
- Pre-action Sprinklers: These sprinklers are designed for use in areas where there is a risk of accidental activation, such as in computer rooms or data centers. Pre-action sprinklers require two independent triggers to activate - first, a fire detector must detect smoke or heat, and then a valve must open to allow water to flow through the sprinkler heads.
Sprinkler & Hose Reel Maintenance
It's important to note that both sprinkler systems and hose reels require regular inspection, testing, and maintenance to ensure they are functioning properly in case of a fire.
O2 Fire can inspect and service these systems to ensure they are in compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and to ensure they will work effectively in the event of a fire.
